Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between gelato and ice cream?

Gelato is different from ice cream in several ways. Gelato for one, uses far more milk than cream, and due to a slow churning process, it incorporates less air than ice cream. Unlike ice cream, and some other gelati, Uomo Gelato is made without the use of eggs in our custard. These differences result in a more flavorful, dense, and creamy scoop with less butterfat than ice cream. You really can taste the difference.

What temperature is gelato best served at?

Gelato is best eaten when served at a temperature around 16 degree’s (F). We know its hard to wait, but we recommend letting your pint sit for a few minutes before diving in.

Is Uomo Gelato Organic?

We use only the finest pasture raised organic milk and cream to make our gelato base. We take pride in seeking out not only organic dairy, but whenever possible, certified humane ingredients. This means products that are guaranteed to come from farms where the animals that provide our amazing ingredients are raised ethically, with love and dignity.

We also strive to use organic fruits and juices for our non-dairy sorbetto.

While some of our added ingredients, such as chocolates, nuts, etc., may not be available as organic; you can rest assured our ingredient labels will let you know.
